"The students are clearly embracing life and work in London," said Faith McGauley Whitman ’90, who treated the interns to a group dinner during their time abroad.
Eight Dickinson students completed high-impact summer internships in London this summer. As they gained new on-the-job skills and experiences, they also made valuable professional contacts—including alumni living across the pond.
Three rising seniors and five rising juniors took part in the summer program, representing American studies, economics, international business & management and music. Some worked at large global organizations like International Business Times. Others at more agile, smaller workplaces, such as the alum-owned Saranac Partners. All emerged with professional experiences gained in one of the most powerful cities in the world.
It was an impressive first internship for Megan Fife ’27 (international business & management), who learned how to build strong professional relationships while sampling the creative side of marketing at London’s Pebble Studios. Fellow international business & management major Hannah Boss ’26, who marked her third internship this summer and her first in London, created strategy reports and practical toolkits for the senior leaders at the management consultancy Winmark. As she gained experience managing big projects in a professional setting, she also clarified her workplace preferences and her desire to continue to explore careers in strategy and consulting.
"Even if the internship isn’t exactly what you pictured, there’s always something valuable to learn." —Hannah Boss '26 (international business & management)
While abroad, the interns welcomed the chance to meet with Dickinson alumni in London. This included Faith McGauley Whitman ’90, who made them feel right at home when she hosted a group gathering in July. “We had a lovely dinner with a truly impressive group of students, who are clearly embracing life and work in London,” Whitman said.
Both Fife and Boss took their London connections a step further when they met with an alum at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a financial institution with operations on three continents. The visit was led by Nguyen Le ’14, a principal in the EBRD’s Financial Institutions Group. Also a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Le offered to host Dickinson students after learning about the internship program during a recent Dickinson alumni event in London. The students toured the offices and meeting areas and learned about day-to-day operations and possible pathways to success within the organization and beyond.
“It was a pleasure to host young Dickinsonians at the EBRD," Le wrote after the visit. "We had a very nice and insightful conversation."

The London interns were just a few of the Dickinson students who completed internships abroad during summer 2025. Others included Isa Mester '26 (law & policy), an environmental health and safety intern at the Airbus Defense and Space in Bremen, Germany, and Alex Carbone '27 (archaeology, anthropology), who conducted fieldwork in Peru through the El Campanario Archaeological Project.
Asked for advice for students interested in taking advantage of global internships, Fife preached what she practiced: “Take as many opportunities as you can, and ask for guidance. It’s only as rewarding as you make it.”
Boss wholeheartedly agreed. “Even if the internship isn’t exactly what you pictured, there’s always something valuable to learn,” she wrote. “Definitely take advantage of Dickinson’s career development resources too—especially the career center and alumni network. They made a big difference for me in figuring out what kind of internship I wanted and how to get it.”
